Chas. Bernhard, an old resident of this county, died at his home in Port Louisa township at six o'clock Sunday evening, June 5, 1910.

Mr. Bernhard was a native of Ohio, and was born in that state in 1818, being at the time of his death aged 91 years, 7 months and 15 days. He was a pioneer resident of this county, having lived in Port Louisa township, in the vicinity of the home in which he died, for about fifty years, and had lived to see many changes in the country which was a winderness when he first came to make his home in this state. He was twice married, his second wife, who survives him, being a sister of Henry Schneider, who resides in Wapello. He is also survived by one daughter by his first marriage, Mrs. Mollie Winters, of Galt, Mo., and three daughters by his second marriage, Mrs. Ellen Young, of Washington state; Mrs. Nellie Cocklin and Mrs. Mira Harris, both of whom reside near Grandview.

The funeral services were held at the Lone Tree Chapel in the neighborhood of his home on Tuesday morning, June 7, 1910, at 10:30, conducted by Rev. Jesse Huddle pastor of that church.
