ORLEAF CAPAROON

Orleaf Caparoon, age 78, rural Morning Sun, died Thursday, May 9, 1996 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

The son of Alfred Clark and Saphronia (Higgins) Caparoon, he was born December 1, 1917 at Morning Sun.

On July 12, 1940, he married Darlene Ross at Kahoka, Missouri.

He was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School, a member of the Wapello Masonic Lodge, and served for 6 years on the Morning Sun School Board. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun. Orleaf was a farmer and a custom combine operator, and was very interested in soil conservation.

Survivors include: his wife, of Morning Sun; 2 daughters, Carol Roush of Claremore, Oklahoma and Janice Ward of Jackson, Missouri; 1 son, Wayne Caparoon of Dallas City, Illinois; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marie Caparoon of Moline, Illinois; and Exxa Harris of Morning Sun.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. from the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, with Rev. Jack Edmisson officiating. Interment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Friends called as they desired on Sunday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family met with friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial has been established for the First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun.

Music was provided by Pamela Butler, organist. Honorary bearers were: Sam Walker, Fred Goudie, Billy Kellogg, Dan Ewart, and Lee Harris. Casket bearers were: John Caparoon, Scott Sheltra, Danny Harris, Doug Harris, Rodney Roush, and Don Callahan.
