George E. Taylor, age 84, of the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, formerly of Morning Sun, died Monday, August 27, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

The son of Fred H. and Margaret (Reid) Taylor, he was born May 13, 1917, at Morning Sun. He was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. He Served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Morning Sun. He worked hard writing a book "From Plowshares to a Garand Rifle" published in 1995. He farmed the family farm north of Morning Sun his entire life.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Elizabeth Taylor of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents.

According to his wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no visitation or services at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday evening, Sept. 2, 2001, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

A general memorial has been established in his name.

Interment of his cremains will be at a later date in the Elmwood Cemetery at Morning Sun.
