Funeral services for 91 year old Lois Ross of Columbus Junction, Ia. were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2001, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

Lois died Saturday, August 25, 2001 at the North Brook Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation was Monday evening at the funeral home.

Lois Elizabeth McLean was born May 17, 1910, to Gustavus and Grace Parkhill McLean. Lois graduated from the MacMurray Women's College in 1930. She married Claude Ross December 24, 1930 in Raymond, Ill.

Lois was a 50+ year member of the Emma Beckman Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Chapter T of T.T.T. Lois was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Claude and Lois moved to Columbus Junction in 1935 and started The Ross Dry Goods Store. They operated this store in Columbus Junction for 52 years, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Helen Bassin and her husband, Sandy, Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are four great nieces and nephews, Mrs. Sondra Nelson and her husband Ted, Cedar Rapids, John Bassin, Marion, Ia., Mrs. Carolyn Place and J.W. Caughron, Jr., all of Williamsburg, Va. There are four great-great nieces and one great-nephew.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Gustavus McLean.
