David Stephens, a well known resident of Pt. Louisa Township, died Sunday evening as a result of injuries sustained by a kick from a horse. David Stephesn was born in Canada and was at the time of his death aged seventy five years. At age twenty years, in 1857, he came to Louisa County, Iowa. In December, 1867, Mr. Stephens was married to Miss Ruth C. McChesney, of Jefferson township, a sister of John and James McChesney, of this city. To this union were born eith children, who with the wife, servive him. His children are: Mrs. Lydia Crayville of Randolph, Wis; Mrs. Robert Utter, of Fredonia; Mrs. Wm. McLaughlin, of near Wapello; Mrs. J.M. Guthrie, of Wapello; Mrs. Geo. Cocklin, of Grandview; Jesse Stephens and Chester Stephens, of Grandview, and Glen, at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Elijah, who is now in Canada, and Rosewell, of this city. The funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, with interment in the Grandview Cemetery.
