MARY J. JENKINS

Mary J. Jenkins, 73, of Columbus Junction, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 1995 at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Born April 10, 1922 in rural Columbus Junction, she was the daughter of Harry and Jessie Allen Childerhouse. On Feb. 26, 1942 she married Charles W. Jenkins in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and worked at the Rexall store and Ross Dry Goods store in Columbus Junction.

She was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the local Marathon Bridge Club and the duplicate bridge club.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Behrens, of Columbus Junction; two sons, William Jenkins of Moreno Valley, Calif., and J. Jack Jenkins of Plymouth, Minn.; three sisters, Carol Howell of Columbus Junction, Marjorie Wieland of Lone Tree and Eileen Bryant of Morning Sun; one brother, Farrell Gentzler of Columbus Junction; and two granddaughters.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, and one brother.

The visitation was held Tuesday evening at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction.

The funeral for Mrs. Jenkins was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 20 at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
