KENNETH (CARP) SPRINGSTEEN

Kenneth (Carp) Springsteen, age 71, Morning Sun, died Wednesday March 13, 1991 at Morning Sun Care Center. The son of Frank Earl and Ruth (Loper) Springsteen, he was born February 13, 1920 at Burlington, Iowa. On March 1, 1942, he married Gladys M. Wells at Memphis, Missouri. He attended the Morning Sun school; was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun; he had served in the National Guard Reserves; in earlier years he worked for creameries in Morning Sun and Winfield as a buttermaker; he then owned and operated Springsteen Tiling Business, beginning in 1952. Carp was a former Boy Scout Master, a former Lions Club member, American Legion member, and Mason; he was one of the original board members of the Indian Hill Country Club; he was the First President of the Southeast Iowa District of the Land Improvement Contractors of America.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, Morning Sun; 1 daughter, Coraliene Clausen, Bettendorf, Iowa; 2 sons, Percy of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Frank, Morning Sun, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Eulalie Bryant, Morning Sun; Genevieve Crist, and Vera Jamison, both of Eugene, Oregon; Viola Williamson, Pleasant Hill, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Frank and 1 sister Mildred Wright.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 15, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun, with Rev. Tom Zeleny and Rev. Nancy Kaye Skinner officiating. Music was provided by Geneva Samuels, organist. Honorary bearers were Bob Gabeline, Philip Delzell, Leo Hartman, Dan Blair, Gene Wilson, and Richard Robb. Casket bearers Larry Minnis, Mark Minnis, Darrell Bryant, Ed Wright, Ron Hollingsworth, Loren Booten. Flower attendants were Verla Blair and Ginny Hartman. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. A memorial has been established. Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun, was in charge of the arrangements.
