HAROLD K. HAYES

Harold K Hayes, 89, of Wapello, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1992, at the Wapello Nursing and Care Center.

Born April 22, 1903, in Toolsboro, he was the son of John O. and Villa McKay Hayes. He married Mamie Erwin Nov. 18, 1945 in Muscatine. She died May 30, 1984.

He worked in Muscatine at the Muscatine Pearl Works and retired from the Muscatine post office. He was a graduate of Oakville High School and served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the first Presbyterian Church in Muscatine. He was a member of the Iowa Masonic Lodge No. 2. He was also a member of the York Rights and Davenport Consistory KAABA Shrine. He was also a member of the National Association of Federal Employees, and a member of the American Post #27.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, J. Norval, Howard, Raymond and Ralph and one sister, Mantie.

Masonic service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with the family meeting friends until 8 p.m.

The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with the Rev. Pam Saturnia officiating. Burial was at Parsons Cemetery, Wapello. Organist was Bev Parsons. Casket bearers were Ed Vineyard, Gary Parsons, Dave Parsons, Harlan Hayes, Harold Hayes, and Brian Hayes. Flower attendants were Diane Vineyard and Barbara Hayes.

Memorials have been established for Parsons Cemetery and Mallory Cemetery, Wapello.
