OTIS SWAFFORD

Otis Swafford, 80, of Oakville, died Sunday at Burlington Medical Center.

Born May 17, 1913 at Wapello, he was the son of Clair and Barbara Rold Swafford. He married Mildred Knouse April 1937 at Kahoka, Mo. She died June 21, 1972.

He was a retired farmer and also had been a truck driver, and was a graduate of Oakville High School.

Survivors include two daughters, Delores D. Winterton of Hemet, Calif. and Barbara Sigworth of Yarmouth; four sons, Kenneth Swafford and James Swafford of Oakville, Robert Swafford of Mediapolis, Russell Swafford of Burlington; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Hallie Swafford of Simmsport, La.; and two sisters, Augusta Wischmeier of Burlington and Clara Christianson of Oakville.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

The funeral for Mr. Swafford will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Lexie Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Wapello Oakville Youth League.
