GORDON D. GLENN

Gordon D. Glenn, age 74, Winfield, died Friday, December 8, 1995 at his residence in Winfield.

The son of Howard and Frances (Montgomery) Glenn, he was born September 27, 1921 at Smith Center, Kansas.

On April 25, 1943 he married Dorothy Jeanne Perry at Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He was a graduate of the Oskaloosa High School; was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church; a member of the Winfield and Oskaloosa Masonic Lodges; a member of the Oskaloosa American Legion; member of the KAABA Shrine; he and his wife were owners/publishers of the Winfield Beacon/Wayland News for many years before their retirement; he served in the Army during W.W.II; in the European Theatre in Germany in a Cavalry unit; he retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel.

Survivors include his wife of Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield, 1 daughter, Lucinda Glenn of Fernandia Beach, Florida; 1 son, Tupper Glenn of North Charleston, South Carolina; 2 grandsons, Joshua and Andrew Glenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church in Winfield, Rev. Anne Lippincott officiating. Music will be provided by Kathy Garris, organist. Casket bearers will be Keith Parlett, Gene Edmondson, Darrell Anderson, Gary Miller, Richard Lauderdale, and Shorty Conard. Interment will follow at the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa with graveside military rites.

Friends called Wednesday at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where a Masonic service was held at 6:30 p.m. with the family meeting with friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Wednesday. The casket was closed according to the wishes of the family.

A memorial has been established in his name.
