Harold Henry 'Pete' Kissinger, age 82, of Morning Sun, Iowa, died Monday morning, June 22, 1992 at Burlington Medical Center.

He was born November 17, 1909 in rural Louisa County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Martha Huffman Kissinger. On December 2, 1933, he married Ruth Nelson at Nichols, Iowa.

He was a graduate of Morning Sun High School, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Wapello, a member of the Iowa Chief of Police Association, and a member of the Indian Hills Golf and Country Club of rural Wapello.

Pete Kissinger had farmed in his early years and then worked several years for the Carl A. Nelson Construction Co. at Burlington. He then worked for 10 years as the Engineer for Mercy Hospital at Burlington, and then retired after 25 years with the City of Morning Sun where he worked as the City Marshal and primarily the Superintendent of water and gas. After retirement he worked for Weber Implement and for the Indian Hills Golf and Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Roger of Santa Cruz, California and Russell of Playa Del Rey, California; seven granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and four brothers.

The funeral service for Pete Kissinger will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 1992 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Wapello, with Father Robert Brownfield and Father Joseph Pound officiating. Mucis will be provided by Eloise Kerr as organist and Rosemary Schneider as Vocalist.

Casket bearers will be Dwight Cornick, Pat Weber, Robert Middaugh, Ron Wilkerson, Bob Pogemiller and Tom Pogemiller. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery at Morning Sun.

A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home at Morning Sun.

A Memoral Fund has been established for a Medical Scholarship or the Morning Sun Community Ambulance Service.
