Effie V. Crammond, age 77 of Wapello, Iowa died Thursday afternoon, January 2, 1992 at the Morning Sun Care Center.

She was born February 14, 1914 at rural Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Rachel Ann Deppey Grouwinkel. She married Harry Crammond on February 14, 1939 at Burlington, Iowa.

She was a graduate of the Columbus Community High School at Columbus Junction and had attended Iowa State University at Ames. She was a memb er of the United Methodist Church and its Mary Circle of Wapello and also a member of the Midway Circle of rural Wapello.

Survivors include her husband, Harry; three daughters, Joyce Pepper of Cedar Rapids, Jean Hunt of Wapello, and Jolene Gerling of Mt. Union; one son, Ray Crammond of Elgin, Iowa; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Abbie Adamson of Forsythe, Missouri, Elizabeth McCulley of Mt. Pleasant, Berniece Newhard of Sun City, Arizona, and Vera Wiley of Conesville; and one brother, Paul Grouwinkel of rural Columbus Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Maude Stone and Mabel Storey; and one brother, George Grouwinkel.

The funeral service for Effie Crammond was held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 1992 at the United Methodist Church at Wapello with the Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating.

Kathleen Hagele provided the organ music with Wayne Gieselman as vocalist. A special taped music 'Star of the East' by daughter Joyce Pepper and a friend of hers, Rosemary McCoid, was also presented.

The casket bearers were Scot Hunt, Stephen Hunt, John Hunt, Brian Thye, Chris Gerling, Brian Gerling and Jeff Pepper. The flower attendants were Jennie Small and Mary Ann Humiston. The burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefits of the United Methodist Church of Wapello and the Morning Sun Care Center.

Services and arrangements were provided by Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family met with friends Saturday evening.
