John Harold Davis, age 81, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died October 19, 1999, in rural Columbus Junction.
John Harold Davis, the son of Humphrey and Mabel (McBride) Davis, was born July 22, 1918, at Cotter, Iowa. He married Maryella Duncan on September 27, 1941, in Missouri.
John Harold had been a lifelong farmer in the area. In addition, he had worked for Harris Construction until his retirement in 1990. John Harold had been a member of the Columbus Cit Masonic Lodge #107 A.F. & A.M., the Davenport Consistory and the Kaaba Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Maryella, of Columbus Junction; a daughter, Rozanne Petrick and her husband, Larry, Mt. Vernon, Iowa and two sons, Brian Davis, Columbus Junction and Don Davis, Cedar Rapids. There are six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Martha Thode, Columbus Junction.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Davis.
Visitation and Masonic Rites were held Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held October 22 at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. James Edwards officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Bob Harris, Kenny Peters, Jake Davis, Dick Pugh, Cleo Orris, Bill Peters and Preston Edmondson. Pallbearers were Bob Stapp, Bob Davis, Mike Pugh, Dennis Tompkins, Dave Fisher and Kirk Duncan. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetary. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.
