Charles Joseph Reutinger, 94, of Wapello, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 1990, at the Lutheran Homes, Muscatine.

Born Feb. 2, 1896, at Wapello, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Keck Reutinger. He married Leona Weltha June 23, 1926, at Randall.

He was a 1915 graduate of Wapello High School and attended Quincy Business School. For two years, he worked in the western United States for the American Telephone Col. He then farmed near Wapello. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and Sunday School and served as trustee. He was a board member of the Farmers Elevator and Exchange of Wapello for more than 51 years, a member of the Louisa County Farm Bureau for more than 50 years, and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 5 A.F. & A.M. He served on the Wapello Community School Board.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Ramon Reutinger, Morning Sun; one daughter, Mary Coutts, Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello.

The service for Mr. Reutinger will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Wapello, with the Rev. George Yetter officiating. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church, Wapello.
