Frances Josphine Growwinkle, 80, of Columbus City, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 1990, in Des Moines.

Born May 4, 1910, in What Cheer, she was the daughter of Joseph and Annette Barnes. She married Paul Growwinkle June 12, 1931, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Columbus Junction, WSCS and the PEO.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Betty Lethcoe, Des Moises; two sons, Kenneth Growwinkle, Columbus Junction, and Gary Growwinkle, Mount Prospect, Ill.; one brother, Marion Barnes, Sigouney; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction.

The service for Mrs. Growwinkle will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Columbus Junction, with the Rev. Thomas Woodin officiating. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery.
