Mabel Wykert Edwards, 70, of Joplin, Mo., died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Dec.7, 1992, at St. John's Medical Center, following a year long battle with cancer.

Mrs.Edwards was born June 2, 1922 at Columbus Junction. She graduated from Wapello High School in 1941. She married J. Franklin Edwards on April 7, 1946, at Columbus Junction. He preceded her in death Sept.3,1991.

She lived in Joplin, Mo., most of her adult life, where she was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, James Edwards of Nevada, Mo.; a daughter, Janet Edwards of Springdale, Ark.; and a twin sister, Melba Allen of Burlington.

Memorial services were held Thursday at Mason Woodard Mortuary.
