Patricia Lucille Griffin Cocklin was born April 27, 1931, in Melrose, Iowa, to William Patrick and Kathleen A. McGrath Griffin. She died July 25, 2007, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Pat married Clinton W. Cocklin January 27, 1947, in Burlington, Iowa. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. From this union there were six children, ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pat was the middle child of eleven children, a devoted wife, a super-mom, a very special grandmother and great-grandmother, a wonderful sister, aunt and friend. She was an artist who, in addition to her family, loved life, photography, flowers and collecting interesting objects.

Surviving are her husband, Clinton W. Cocklin of Wapello; children, Jeanie Kay Bass (Randy Bowdre) of Wapello, Christopher W. Cocklin (Cheryl Murray) of Wapello, D. Kathleen Henke (Rick Collier) of Wapello, Melodie Cocklin of Wapello, and Laura Jo Cocklin of Wapello; grandchildren, L. Scott Little of Indiana, Chad W. Cocklin of California, Brandy S. Beeding (Jerry) of Wapello, Jeffrey M. and Jeremyah J. Bass of Wapello, Danielle E. Henke of New York, Cody D. Henke of Ames, Angiela M. Bowdre (Jerry Swatford) of Wapello, Chayne W. Cocklin of Wapello, and Free JT McDowell of Wapello; great-grandchildren, Jacob T. and Jordan T. Little of Columbus City, Chanler W. and Parker J. Cocklin of California, Sierra J. Bowdre of Wapello, Aysha S. and Arigon M. Little of Indiana, and Jaiden D. Beeding of Wapello, step-grandchildren, Justin T. Wehmeyer of Lone Tree, Steven Ballenger of California; and Colton and Josalynn Swatford of Wapello. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta M. Bailey of Fort Madison and brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Griffin (Bette) of Columbus Junction, and V. Paul Griffin of Arizona, sister-in-law, Delores Griffin of Idaho, 15 nieces and nephews; 26 great-nieces and nephews; 7 great-great nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her daughter, Jerri Jane Conklin; parents, William and Kathleen Griffin; brothers, John Wm. (Bill) Griffin, Sr., Robert M. (Bob) Griffin of Idaho, Edward J. (EddieJoe) Griffin of Columbus Junction. Daniel F. Griffin of Idaho, James D. (Dave) Griffin, I, of Burlington; sisters, Mary K. Oberman of Burlington and Helen Donnajean Moyer of Wapello.

Visitation was Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 1 PM at Dudgeon-McCulley Home in Wapello, followed by funeral services at 2:30 PM., interment at Harrison Cemetery and fellowship afterward at the Presbyterian Church in Wapello. Memorials in Pat's honor may be given to the Wapello Rescue Unit.
