Theodore (Ted) Goble passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona he was 88.

Theodore, the son of George and Hazel (Hethcote) Goble, was born June 19, 1918 at Ainsworth, Iowa. He attended grade and High School and the Methodist of Ainsworth. He farmed with his brother until he went into the Army in 1942. He served with the 555th Quartermaster Corp landing on day 3 of the Normandy invasion (Omaha Beach). He was discharged in 1946.

On February 10, 1947 he married Arlene Lauderdale at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They lived at their farm in Jefferson County, Iowa. Three children were born to this marriage. Ted was a member of the Christian Church at Packwood, Iowa and served as Deacon and Elder and on the Church Board. Ted retired from farming and joined the Carpenters Union in 1959. He worked at Commercial building and Dams and Powerhouses in Iowa, Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Besides his regular job, Ted with Arlene’s help built a house, bought, renovated and sold houses and owned and operated a Motel. He worked at his carpenter’s trade until he retired in 1983.

He became a full time motor homer and vacationed with his grandchildren during the summer and went South in the winter. He came out of retirement and converted five buses into motor homes.

Ted and Arlene moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1994. He delivered donuts to wholesale accounts for the Donut Post and was greeted on the streets and shops as the Donut Man.

Ted especially enjoyed activities with his family, visiting with kinfolk and friends and reunions with his Army buddies. He liked dancing, traveling, genealogy, woodworking, refinishing furniture, golf and square dancing.

In earlier years he was a scoutmaster and a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Mason Lodge, The American Legion, Senior Citizens League and Charter member of the D Day Museum.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel, twin sisters, Velma and Zelma, his brother, Edward, infant daughter, Georga Anne and son, Steven.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene of 60 years, daughter, Christie Goble, grandchildren, Angelique Michelle, Sarah Baldik, William Windmayer, great-granddaughter, Pharlea Windmayer, his sister, June Pauly and nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered as “Dude”, his childhood nickname, by family and Ted by many friends. He will also be remembered as a generous, kind and caring, for his good humor, sparkling eyes and charming smile. By his wife’s friends as the perfect husband. He will be deeply missed by all.

Graveside services and burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery at Packwood, Iowa, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Harlan “Frosty” Van Horst officiating. “Rest in Peace Dude.”
