Thomas J. Gipple, 91, of Nichols, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at the Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.

Funeral services for Tom will be Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:30am at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Pastor Betsey Sue Neipert will officiate. Casketbearers will be Steve Gipple, Marty Gipple, Gary McCormick, Denny Abbot, Loren Allen, and LeRoy Van Auken. Honorary Casketbearers will be Paul Thompson, John Allen, Virgil Chapman, Ray Gipple, Charles Buser, Dean Gipple, Max Gipple, Junior Gipple, and Max Allen. Burial will be in Conesville Cemetery. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Conesville United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction in memory of Tom. Thomas J. Gipple was born November 3, 1915 in Springrun, Iowa, the son of Joseph. and Margaret (Allen) Gipple. On February 23, 1939, Tom was united in marriage to Catharine McCormick. Tom lived the first five years of his life in the Springrun community, and later his parents moved to the Conesville area. He farmed all his adult life north of Conesville, and took pride in raising many hogs. He served on the Board of Directors of the Muscatine Mutual Insurance for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Iowa City Co-op.

Tom and Catharine traveled extensively, and spent many winters in Maui. He enjoyed playing bridge and skiing on a lake by Oakville.

Tom will be dearly missed by many cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Catharine on September 28, 1992.
