Word has been received of the death on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1992 of John Samuel Hainey, 74, at his Phoenix, Ariz. home.

Mr. Hainey was born May 5, 1918 at Wapello, a son of Chester S. and Zetta Holland Hainey.

Survivors include his wife, Naoma Hart Hainey of Phoenix; three sons, John and Ronald of Chico, Calif. and Robin of Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Kathleen of Chico; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Vern Hainey of Wapello, Chester Jr. of Hayward, Calif. and Richard Hainey of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Hurlbut and Mary Harris, both of Muscatine, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Arlene) Erwin and Mrs. Ray (Jean) Erwin and two in infancy.
