AGED RESIDENT OF CITY PASSES AWAY

J.C. Farver Dies After a Lingering Illness

WAS VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR

Funeral Services Were Held From the Home Yesterday Afternoon and Burial Made in the Wapello Cemetery.

Mr. Joseph C. Farver, an old and highly respected resident of this city, passed away at his home in north Wapello, Tuesday morning at two o'clock after a lingering illness.

Joseph C. Farver was born in Ohio, July 16, 1839, and was at the time of his death aged 73 years, 4 months and 24 days. He was married in 1858 to Mary J. Banks, of New Castle, Pa., who preceded him in death many years ago. To this union two sons were born, William B., who resides at Clinton, and Dudley N., one of the leading business men of Wapello.

On July 8, 1911, Mr. Farver was again married to Mrs. Sophia Connor, of Grandview, who mourns today the death of a kind and devoted husband.

Mr. Farver and family came to Wapello in an early day and engaged in the mercantile business which he followed many years. When Dudley grew to manhood he became the junior partner of the firm until about twelve years ago, when Mr. Farver Sr., retired from business life and sold his share to Dudley, who is in the business in Wapello today.

Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon, December 11, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Carl Montanus, assisted by Rev. E.C. Brooks. Members of the A.M. Taylor Post, of which he was a member, acted as pall bearers and the beautiful G.A.R. ritual service was used at the grave, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Wapello Cemetery.
