W.P. BUMGARDNER RITES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Dudgeon funeral home here for Walter Perry Bumgardner, 82, a longtime resident of this community who died in Mercy hospital, Burlington, at 3:30 a.m. Monday. He had been admitted to the hospital last week for treatment.

He was the son of Jacob and Jane Perry Bumgardner and was born July 14, 1870 in Des Moines county. For the past 60 years he had been a resident of this communtiy where he operated a farm and was in the road contracting business.

Mr. Bumgardner was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Modern Woodmen of America lodge.

He is survived by one son, Max D. Bumgardner of Wapello; one brother, Elmer and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Woodard of Burlington and four grandchildren.

His wife, the former Mary Delzell, passed away some time ago as did one sister and one brother.

The services Wednesday were conducted by Dr. Harry Finley of Burlington, former supply pastor of the Wapello Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Wapello cemetery.
