Reid Buffington, Well Known Farmer, Died October 31st

Reid Buffington, well known farmer in this area for many years, died Monday, October 31, in Mercy hospital at Iowa City after an extended illness.

Mr. Buffington was born February 21, 1910 near Columbus Junction, the son of Richard M. and Verdie Jennings Buffington and was aged 56 years, 8 months and 10 days.

He married Lula Hill of this city February 26, 1931.

He was a member of the Columbus City Methodist church and of the IOOF lodge.

Surving are his wife, sons, Da___ and Leslie both of Buffalo; Paul of Columbus Junction, Benny of Winfield, and Keith of Scott AFB, Illinois; daughters, Mrs. Dalford (Virgina) Barrick of Muscatine; Mrs. Ja___ (Judith) Wise of Iowa City, Mrs. Keith (Mildred) Westfall, Mt. Union; M Darrell (Carolyn) Weilbrenner Bloomfield, Iowa. 19 grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Verdie Buffington of Winfield; brothers, Dean and Cra___ both of Columbus Junction; Dan Ashland of Wapello and sisters, Mrs. W.A. Davis and Mrs. Feryl Gipple both of rural Columbus Junction. A son Alan, his father and brother Berch and Keith preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 1__ Wednesday afternoon at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home and were conducted by the Rev. Earl E. Josten

Music was by Donna Belle Hughes.

Casket bearers were: Roger Gipple, Duane Gipple, Richard Gipple, _____ Newell, William Reid and Mark Buffington.

Final resting place the Columbus City cemetery.
