Rex Buffington dies in Wapello

Norman Rexford (Rex) Buffington, 73, of Wapello, died at his home Tuesday, March 27, 1984.

Services were held Friday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello, Rev. Richard Smith officiated with burial in the Harrison Cemetery. The pallbearers were Dale Eversmeyer, Edward Buffington, Delbert Buffington, Robert Buffington, Phillip Buffington and Roger Davis. Flowers were cared for by Gladys Parish, Jennie Lundvall and Valeen Ziegenhorn. Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. A meorial fund has been established.

The son of Ora Carl and Lois Jennings Buffington, he was born January 29, 1911, in Columbus Junction.

He married Nellie Eversmeyer on February 16, 1938, in Washington. He was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marvin of West Point; and Loren of Rockford, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Curtis of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Terry (Marlene) Belzer of Mediapolis; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great grandchild; six step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth and Gerald, both of Columbus Junction and one sister, Mrs. Mildred Davis of Washignton.

His parents, three brothers and a daughter, Leota Boling, preceded him in death.
