Patricia Jane Hoback, 73 of Conesville, died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at her home in Conesville. Funeral services for Patricia will be 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Cathy Whitlatch will officiate. Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Grace United Church in Conesville. Memorials may be directed to the Grace United Church in Conesville or to the Conesville Volunteer Fire Department in Patricia’s name. Patricia Jane Brown was born on September 8, 1933, on the family home north of Conesville the daughter of Robert G. and Mabel R. (Estle) Brown. She graduated from Conesville High School and attended Muscatine Junior College and the Iowa City Secretarial School. On May 29, 1949, Patricia was united in marriage to Lester Hoback at the family home near Conesville. They resided on the home farm for the last years of their life. They farmed in the Gladwin area and the Conesville area for all their married life. Patricia worked for 27 years at the University of Iowa, retiring from the Department of Leisure Studies in 1995. She was a member of the Grace United Church, where she served as pianist for many years. She also raised colored sheep, served as Director of the Natural Colored Wool Growers Association for 12 years. She and her husband inspected colored wool flocks all over the seven-state area that served Region 7. Patricia and her husband, Lester, traveled extensively after retirement.

Patricia will be deeply missed by her children, Michael Hoback and his wife, Debra of rural Columbus Junction; Jonathan Hoback and his wife, Peggy of Columbus Junction, daughter, Ellen Ort and her husband, Bill of Lovington, New Mexico and Charles Hoback and his wife, Kathy of Conesville; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lester on November 12, 2004 and one brother, Linnaeus E. Brown.
