Evelyn Jackson, 87, of Wapello, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Carrington Place in Muscatine.

Funeral Mass was 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at St. Joseph Church, Columbus Junction. The Reverend Paul Appel officiated.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, Wapello.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Church, Columbus Junction.

Evelyn was born on June 15, 1920, in Wapello, the daughter of Frank and Mildred Lieberknecht Diehl. She married Fay Dean Jackson in 1940, in Kahoka, Missouri.

She attended Marycrest College in Davenport.

She retired in 1984 as Postmaster at Kinross, Iowa.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Columbus Junction, and also the National Association of Postmasters.

She loved her grandsons, enjoyed family history and corresponding with family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Nikki Taylor and husband, Robert, of Muscatine, and Deanna Kerr of Kansas City, Kansas; three grandchildren, Shawn Kerr, Zachary Leonhard, and Lucas Leonhard; three step-grandchildren, Ben Taylor, Andrea Taylor, and Jennifer Kopf; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gerrie Wolfe of Morning Sun.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dean Diehl, and one sister, Marjorie Harkins.
