Robert Dana Huff, age 73, of rural Crawfordsville, died Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2007, at his home after a two year battle with acute leukemia. The son of Ralph and Susannah Hamilton Huff, he was born October 30, 1933 at Cantril, Iowa.

Bob graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1951 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield for a year and a half. He married Joyce Suter on September 4, 1953 in Crawfordsville.

Bob and Joyce have been lifelong farmers in the Wyman/Crawfordsville area. He loved and was always active in the cattle industry. Bob was affiliated with the Washington, Columbus Junction, and Kalona Sale Barns. Robert was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville and had served on the Washington County Cattlemen’s Association. He was recently honored by the Louisa County cattlemen for his lifetime service and dedication to the beef industry within Louisa County.

Bob also served on the Louisa County Fair Board, twelve years on the Winfield Mt. Union School Board, was a member of the Crawfordsville Lions Club and was a 4-H leader. Bob loved spending time with his family, camping, the outdoors, and his mules.

Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce; five children, Joetta and Gary Collins of Olathe, Kansas, Jackie and Richard Beard of Crawfordsville; Ray and Lorraine Huff of Crawfordsville, Katy and Dan Greiner of Washington, and Amanda and Derek Sommerer of Jefferson City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Charlotte and Royce Bonnichsen of Columbus Junction; a brother, Charles and Kaye Huff of Wapello; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Dean.

The funeral ceremony for Robert Huff will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Rev. Nancy Oehler officiating. Burial will follow at the Crawfordsville Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the United Church of Crawfordsville where family will meet with friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be left to the United Church of Crawfordsville, U of I Holden Cancer Clinic, or the Hospice of Washington County.

The Honts Funeral Home at Winfield is providing the care and arrangements for Robert Huff.
