Dorothy A. Buffington, 84, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died June 16, 1998 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center, Winfield, Iowa.

Dorothy Alberta Peters was born October 26, 1913, in Winfield, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Jennie (Evans) Peters. She married Kenneth Laird Buffington on NOvember 22, 1934, in Davenport, Iowa. He died April 9, 1985.

Dorothy had been a homemaker all her life. She and Kenneth had been life long farmers near Columbus Junction since 1934. Dorothy loved her home and had been able to maintain it until just several weeks ago when she became ill. She was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her children: Delbert and wife, Dorothy, Wapello; Gary and wife, Nancy, Winfield; and Karen Buffington, Burlington. There are six grandchldren and fourteen great-grandchldren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at the Stacy-Lews Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Run United Methodist Church, rural Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.
