Shirley A. Leith age 69 of New Boston, IL, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, in her home. Services were 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial was in the New Boston Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 PM Monday at Fippinger’s where a memorial fund will be established. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

She was born November 17, 1937, in Louisa County, Iowa, a daughter of Orlo and Merle Kulp Crooks. She was raised by her stepfather and mother, Paul and Merle Kerr and attended the Columbus Junction Community School. On August 26, 1956, she married Denny J. Leith in New Boston, IL.

Shirley was a homemaker and worked part time at the former Olin Funeral Homes. She enjoyed helping people by running errands, taking them to area hospitals or doctor’s offices or just lending a helping hand.

She loved being at home with her family and enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grand-children and was an avid NASCAR Fan.

Survivors include her husband, Denny; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Kevin Ortberg of Joy, IL; 3 grandchildren, Keith (Susan) Ortberg, Travis (Jerica) Ortberg, Kimberly Ortberg, all of Joy, IL; 4 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kassie, Gage and Rylee Ortberg; 2 brothers, Bill Crooks of Florida and Dean Crooks of Wapello, Iowa. Her parents and 3 brothers preceded her in death.
