Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Columbus Junction. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa — Craig E. Slight, 60, of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Ramona Wink, commission lay pastor for the First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun, will officiate.

Burial will be at the Columbus City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Mr. Slight was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Waterloo, the son of Rodney E. and Luella M. (Semlow) Slight.

He attended grade school in Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Columbus Junction High School, where he was a member of the science club and football team. He also participated in Boy Scouts.

After high school, he attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a degree in industrial arts and counseling. He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.

During the summers while attending college, he worked part-time on the Rock Island Railroad in Wisconsin, on barge lines, at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo and Columbus Junction and for Kroblin Trucking Co. in Waterloo.

Following college graduation, he was hired as an industrial arts teacher and counselor in Florida and while there, contracted encephalitis from which he never recovered. He entered Colonial Manor Care Center in 1984.

His hobbies were listening to music, watching movies and playing games on the computer.

He will be dearly missed by his mother; a brother, Gary Slight and wife, Sue, of Muscatine; and two nieces, Sarah Slight of New York City and Meagan Slight of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his father.
