The Columbus Gazette, Sept. 27, 1990

Wilie Leo Boyd, 83, of Route 1, Columbus Junction, died Saturday Septemer 22, 1990, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Woodin officiating. Donna Belle Hughes was organist.

Casket bearers were Mike Carlson, Robert Bright, Zeke Fuller, Robert Curtis, Denny Wagoner, and Guadalupe Trevino. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd was born November 27, 1906, in rural Conesville, the son of Hugh Henry and Carrie Leffler Boyd. He married Merry Lois Sands on June 19, 1937, in Washington. He was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. He retired in April 1972 from Weber and Huston, Inc.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Merry) Wasson of Columbus Junction; one son, Larry Boyd of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren; one brother, Jess Boyd of Placerville, California; and two sisters, Callie Hesseltine of Columbus Junction and Ethel Campbell of Muscatine.

His parents, four brothers, Joe, Don, James and Frank, and one sister, Leona, preceded him in death.
