Alfred Davis dies Monday

Columbus Junction- Alfred Davis, 81, of Rural Route 1, Crawfordsville, died Monday, Aug. 19, 1991, at his home from an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Cambrian Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. A general memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Davis was born April 21, 1910, in Crawfordsville, the son of Evan and Claudia (Evans) Davis.

On Feb. 16, 1937, he married M. Eleanor Griffith in Columbus Junction.

He was a member of the Salem Welsh church, in which he was a church elder. Mr. Davis also was active with the Crawfordsville Lions Club, the Louisa County Beef and Pork Producers and the Farm Bureau. He served on the Wyman School Board and was on the board of directors at the People’s Savings Bank in Crawfordsville.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; three sons, Gomer, Robert and Dallas, Crawfordsville; a daughter, Margaret Patterson, Columbus Junction; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and two grandchildren.
