Virginia M. Bowman, age 79, of Oakville, died Wednesday morning June 30, 1993 at the Burlington Medical Center. She was born February 18, 1914 at Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Mamie Grupe Birkenstock. She married Henry Bowman on September 8, 1930 at Burlington. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God Holiness at Oakville.

Survivors include her husband, Henry; one son James of Oakville; one grandson Steven of Oakville; four great grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, and Ashley of Oakville, and Lisa of Illinois; and one nephew, John Hull, Jr. of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Bertha Hull.

The funeral service for Virginia Bowman was held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 2, 1993 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home with Pastor Maurice Moore officiating. Kathleen Hagele provided the organ music. The casket bearers were Ed Hahn, Elmer Andries, Wes Gerst, Kenny Gerst, Henry Thye, and Doug Langstaff. The flowers were cared for by Carol Gerst and Linda Springsteen. The burial followed at the Edwards Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Wapello-Oakville Youth League.
