Cora Pauline Bowdre, age 69, of Wapello and for many years a resident of Riverdale, Iowa died Monday morning, November 12, 1990 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was born January 20, 1921 at Toolesboro, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Wheeler Brown. On March 19, 1945 she married Ben Bowdre at Kansas City, Kansas. He died February 23, 1981.

Cora Bowdre was a member of the Westside Assembly of God Church at Davenport, Iowa. She had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Burlington for many years, at Davis Greenhouse in Bettendorf, and also at the IH Farmall Plant at Rock Island. In later years she cared for the elderly in their homes.

Survivors include two sisters, Dora Timmerman of Wapello and Nellie Venard of Burlington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Guy, Elias, and Burt.

Funeral sesrvice for Cora Bowdre was held at 1:30 PM on Thursday,Novmember 15, 1990 at the Wapello cemetery with Pastor Norman Wenig officiating. The family met with friends Wednesday afternoon and evening at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Elementary School Emergency Health Fund.
