Mrs. Bertha L. Black Called By Death

Mrs. Bertha Lenora Black, of Letts, died at 2:42 p.m. March 15, 1967 at Muscatine General hospital following an illness of one month.

She was born Septmeber 24, 1887, daughter of C.L. And Ida Bowman Foster of Letts and was aged 79 years, 5 months and 21 days.

She married Elmer W. Black, December 18, 1907 in Louisa County. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Black was a member of the Independent United Brethren church at Letts.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur Black of Nichols and George Black of Letts and one daughter, Mrs. Anita Parrish of Montpelier. Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

The body was brought to the Stacy-Lewis funeral home in this city.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Letts Independent United Brethren church and were conducted by the Rev. Richard Eis.

Music was by Mrs. Chester Fuller and Mrs. Noel Townsley.

Flower attendants were Alberta McGill and Mrs. George Liebbe.

Honorary casket bearers were George Liebbe, Hall Estle, J.D. Newell, Thomas Guffey, Lester Hafner, Albert McGill.

Casket bearers were Lloyd Crumly, Chester Fuller, David Wilson, Vercalle Williams, Orval McCormac, Madeleo Blake.

Final resting place Letts cemetery.
