Services Thursday for Luther Billingsly, 60, of CJ

Luther Irven Billingsly, 60, of Columbus Junction died Monday, September 11, 1989, at University Hospitals in Iowa City following an extended illness.

Services are this Thursday, September 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Brian Jensen and Rev. John Purselley officiating. Burial will be at the Columbus City Cemetery.

Casketbearers are Dick Pugh, Jack Pugh, Don Ball, Dick Griffith, Boone Bell, Danny Boyd, Jim Coon and Tom Podaril. Honorary casketbearers are Jack Johnson, Mott Kemp, Shory McKean, Don Allen, Bill Podaril, Jack Bieri, Jim Stransky, John Morrison, John Thornton, John Harold Davis and Marvin Hamilton.

A Masonic service will be hed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, at the funeral home.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Billingsly was born September 15, 1928, in Ozark County, Missouri, a son of Willie Edward and Elizabeth Wallace Billingsly. He married Gladys Hathcock on August 5, 1948, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

He was a member of the Columbus City Masonic Lodge No. 107 AF&AM and the KAABA Shrine.

He had been a dairy farmer and owned and operated the Kingsbury Inn in Fredonia.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; four daughters, Mrs. Bill (Rhonda) Osburn of Ozark, Missouri, Freda Scheef, Mrs. Lanny (Diana) Pugh and Mrs. Rick (Denise) Ball, all of Columbus Junction; nine grandchildren; his mother, Elizabeth Billingsly of Thornfield, Missouri, four brothers, David of Pontiac, Missouri, James of Republic, Missouri, Gene of Galva, Illinois, and Joe of Nixon, Missouri; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Ruth) Pursselley of Republic, Mary Barton of Kewanee, and Judy Humiston of Letts.

He is preceded in death by his father and one brother.
