The Rev. Donald C. Bissinger, 88, of Lee's Summit, Mo., died of a respiratory ailment Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Village Care Center. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at a later date in Wapello, Iowa, with burial of the cremains at Harrison Cemetery near Wapello.

The Rev. Bissinger, born in Wapello, was a pastor with the United Methodist Church and had served churches at Orient, Bagley, Waukee, Wellman, Albia, Atlantic, Jefferson,Shenandoah and LaPorte City. He had served as a chaplain in Italy during World War II and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Surviving are three sons, Paul of Clive, Chuck of Newark, Del., and Stan of Minneapolis, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the John Knox Foundation, Lee's Summit.
