Ruth L. Berres, age 71, of the Morning Sun Care Center, formerly of Mediapolis, died Thursday evening, January 4, 2001, at the Morning Sun Care Center.

The daughter of Jake and Marie Schmidgal Kuntz, she was born May 6, 1929 near Oakville. On January 24, 1969 she married Carroll Berres at Burlington.

She was a graduate of the Huron High School. For 35 years she worked for area nursing homes and hospitals as an aide, retiring from the Burlington Medical center in 1985.

She was a member of the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband of the Morning Sun Care Center; one sister, Mrs. James (Cynthia) Burk of Fort Madison; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation was Sunday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family met with friends in the afternoon.

Funeral services for Ruth Berres were held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2001, from the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church with Ministers of the Church officiating. Interment followed at the Oakville Church Cemetery. Casket bearers were Keith Kuntz, Bob Kuntz, Leon Kuntz, Chad Kuntz, Jim Bowman and Joe Wiegand.

A memorial for the Oakville Apostolic Christian church has been established in her name.
