Burlington Hawkeye, April 29, 2001

Beulah Faye Boales, 82, of Burlington, died at 1:12 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2001, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born May 5, 1918, in Saverton, Mo., she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Mae Bunstock Wilson. On Oct. 9, 1936, she married Lawrence H. Smith in Louisiana, Mo. He died Aug. 23, 1982.

Mrs. Boales was a production worker for 27 years at the Burlington Basket Co. and worked at the Suburban Club.

She moved to Iowa in October 1949. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed needlework, reading and music, and was active with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Charles H. Smith of Sumner, Mo., and Allen L. Smith of Mesa, Ariz.; four daughters, Mary A. Elliott of Wever, Etta M. Rambow and Wanda S. Fritz, both of Burlington, and Shirley K. Cleland of Oakville; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one stepsister, Margaret Wilson of Bowling Green, Mo.; two nieces, two nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, on half sister and two half brothers and three grandchildren.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. today at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Boales will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Parsons Cemetery in rural Oakville.

A memorial has been established.
