Charles Arthur Bloomquist dies in auto accident

Charles Arthur Bloomquist, the son of Victor and Bessie Morehardt Bloomquist, was born December 16, 1924 at Muscatine, Iowa. He passed away suddenly due to an auto accident at Corning, Iowa, on January 6, 1981, at the age of 56 years and 20 days.

He was raised near Columbus Junction, Iowa, and served his country during World War II in the Navy as a motors machinist mate. On October 20, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lola May Sundstrom at Corning, Iowa. He lived there until moving to Red Oak in 1955. He worked for the J.D. Oil company for 13 years and the past ten years has been sales representative for the Bowman Distributing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Red Oak. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Bob in 1977 and one brother Victor in 1978.

Casket bearers were Lowrie Jones, Marion Hasley, Stanley Archer, Charles Shipe, Richard Harrell and Lawrence Bradway. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa.

Charles is survived by his wife Lola May of Red Oak; two daughters, Susan of Red Oak and Mrs. Carol Long, Portland, Oregon; one brother Donald Bloomquist and one sister Evelyn Brown, both of Aurora, Colorado, and by other relatives and many friends.
