Dr. C.A. Bloomquist Called By Death

Word has been received here of the death January 7, 1965 of Dr. C.A. Bloomquist, 75, at LaVerne, California.

A graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, Dr. Bloomquist was pastor in his student days at Kingston Methodist church. He received his D.D. degree from Garrett Biblical Institute, Evanston, Illinois. Later he served as a member of the Garrett board of trustees.

He served as pastor of Rock River conference in Illinois for about 40 years. His last pastorate was at La Grange, Illniois, before retiremnt. He was also a district superintendent in the Rock River conference and served for a number of years on the general Board of Pensions with his office in the Chicago Temple.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Heahlke, Englewood, California; a grandson, a great granddaughter and three brothers. The Rev. Sidney Bloomquist, Dixon, Illinois; Arthur, 1711 S. 12th, Burlington; and Harley, Letts. He was born near Little York, Illinois, April 16, 1889, the son of John and Mary Bloomquist.

Services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in LaVerne. Burial in California.

The Rev. Victor Bloomquist, deceased, former pastor of the Columbus Junction and Columbus City Methodist Churches was also a brother.

Nieces and nephews also include James Bloomquist, Conesville; Mrs. Alfred Crone, Burlington, LeRoy Bloomquist and family, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Charles Bloomquist and family, Red Oak; Donald Bloomquist and family and Mr. and Mrs. Howard (Evelyn) Brown and family, Denver.
