Blodgett, 63, dies Monday

Max D. Blodgett, 63, RR3, Columbus Junction, died Monday evening, May 25, 1987, at the Washington County Hospital of a sudden illness.

Services will be held Thursday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, Washington, with burial in Oregon Township Cemetery, Ainsworth.

Casketbearers will be Jack McFarland, Kerm Jenkins, Randy Russell, Ed Wintermeyer, David Custer, and Harold Mescher.

He was born August 22, 1923, in Downing Missouri, the son of Junior and Sarah Carver Blodgett. On November 27, 1942, he married Wilma Bodkins in Lancaster, Missouri. For the past two years he lived in Louisa County.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Post in Ainsworth. He had farmed for 20 years; was a custodian in the Ainsworth School District for 5 years; and worked at Perfex for 8 years, retiring two years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Cotter; two sons, Roger and Richard, Ainsworth; five daughters, Sheri McFarland, Norma Paisley, Karen Slemmons, all of Ainsworth; Sandy Custer, Wayland; and Kathy Wintermeyer, Winfield; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Helen Bodkins, Ottumwa, and Evelyn Lewis, Lancaster, Missouri; and one brother, James Blodgett.
