William and Melba Bond

Ashes of Wiliam and Melba Bond will be buried at 9 a.m. Monday at Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun.

Mr. Bond died March 12, 1989, at Bellflower, Calif. Mrs. Bond died April 8, 1989, at Long Beach, California. Both were cremated.

Mr. Bond was born Oct. 20, 1911 in Missouri, he was the son of William A. and Julia F. McGovern Bond.

Mrs. Bond was born Aug. 25, 1918 in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of William A. and Hallie M. Riley Delzell.

They were married Dec. 24, 1936, in Davenport.

Mr. Bond was a machinist for over 50 years, and had attended school in the Davenport area.

Mrs. Bond got her nursing degree in California, and after her nursing career became a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Bond, Long Beach, Calif., and David Bond, Oxnard, Calif.; one daughter, Julia Bond, Heber Sprins, Ark.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters of Mr. Bond, Opal Brown, Rock Island, Ill., Lucille Wagner, Yucaipa, Calif., and Gladys Heidt, Arlington, Texas; three sisters of Mrs. Bond, Verlee PoBuda, Morning Sun, Pauline Kerr, Davenport, and Betty Vacarro, Bettendorf; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Helen Norris and Laura Huseman.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun, is in charge of arrangements.
