Anna Baird, 1902-1994, 92, of Wapello, died Monday morning, May 16, 1994 at the Morning Sun Care Center. The daughter of Frank A. and Katie McIntyre Jack, she was born November 10, 1902 in Louisa County, near Cairo.

She graduated from high school in Red Oak, Iowa, where she lived with her great aunt and uncle, Clara and Walter Humphreys, while attending high school. She married Frank Melvin Baird on July 29, 1922 at Red Oak. He died October 25, 1987.

She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wapello and was active with the Delta Alpha Ladies' Guild of the Church.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Baird of Blue Lake, California and Malcolm Baird of Burlington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Claude Jack of Wilton and Leroy Jack of Barnes City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Audrey; and two brothers, Lawrence and Carl.

The funeral service for Anna Baird was at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 1994 at the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello, with Rev. Bill Young officiating. Music was provided by Pamela Butler as organist and Nancy Wagner as vocalist. The casket bearers included Terry Butler, Ronald Jack, Larry Jack, Rodger McWhirter, Jack Naylor, and Fred Brown. Burial followed in the Wapello Cemetery.

The family met with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello.

A memorial fund has been established for the First Presbyterian Church, Wapello, in memory of Elizabeth Annabelle Baird.
