Services for John "Jack" H. Baird 1898-1986, 87, of Bloomfield, Indiana who died Oct 6, at Hospitality House, were held Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Allen Funeral Home with the Revs. Maurice Brockman and Rich Smale officiating. Burial was in the Covenanter Cemetery.

Born Nov. 29, 1898 in Morning Sun, Iowa he was the son of Joseph and Ida (Ferris) Baird. He was a retired machinist in the chemistry department at Indiana University. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Bloomfield Rotary Club and the Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Fern (Hassler) Baird of Bloomfield; two daughters, Jackie Sturgeon of Ellettsville, Ind. and Catherine Hrycak of Portage, Ind.; one sister, Harriet Pogemiller of Morning Sun, Iowa; four brothers, Cecil Baird of Omaha, Neb., Paul Baird and Robert Baird, both of Morning Sun, Iowa, and Orville Baird of Long Beach, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eugenia (Pleasants) Baird; one daughter, Carol Joe Sexton; and three brothers, Thurlough, Rodman and Bruce Baird.
