Chester E. Bond Called By Death

Chester E. Bond of Columbus City died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 1974 at the Washington County hospital at the age of 79 years and 3 days.

Chester Edgar Bond was born April 17, 1895 at Pitchin, Ohio, the son of Calvin O. and Mary Maude Brittin Bond.

Mr. Bond was a truck gardener. He was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church, which he had served as custodian for many years.

He was married to Ruth Thornton in 1920.

He is survived by one son, Edwin Dale Hayward of Alden, Iowa; two daughters, Leatta Rachel Kiefer of Central City and Leona Francelia Monteleon of Red Oak; two brothers, David Bond of Marshalltown and Samuel Bond of Davenport; six sisters, Mrs. Olive Pennell, Benzonia, Michigan; Mrs. Alice White, Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Elizabeth Winston, Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Esther Wilcox and Mrs. Rachel Schumacher, both of Davenport and Mrs. Alta Alloway of Columbus City.

His wife, his parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Hasel officiating. Mrs. Cecil Allen was organist. Casket bearers were Merlin Alloway, Rex Todd, Delmore Evans, Cecil Allen, Paul Grimm and Kenneth Duncan.

Burial was in the Columbus City cemetery.
