Mary Bonnichsen, 64, dies following extended illness.

Mary Bertha Bonnichsen, 64, died Tuesday, January 6, 1981, at the Wapello Care Center, Wapello, Iowa, following an extended illness. Bertha was born October 11, 1916, at Washington, Iowa, to Richard and Leah Evans Thomas.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. Denley Ganfield, pastor of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian church, conducted the service.

Miss Donna Belle Huges was organist. Interment was in Cambrian Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kenneth Martin, Carl Bonnichsen, Casey Bonnichsen, Craig Bonnichsen, Howard Ramer, Jere Covington, Brian Lessenger and Elvin Pete Lessenger.

Survivors include her mother Leah Thomas, a resident of Colonial Manor Care center of Columbus Commuity; a son Argene Bonnichsen, Grandview; a daughter Roxeye Kistler, Columbus Junction; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one brother Robert Thomas of Columbus Junction.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Thomas.
