Funeral services were held Monday, December 31, 1990, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Columbus Junction for Marjorie Bonnichsen, age 66, of Columbus Junction. Mrs. Bonnichsen died suddenly Friday, December 28, at her home after a three-year illness.

Rev. Thomas Woodin officiated. Burial was in the Indian Creek Cemetery, in Concord Township. Stacy-Lewis Funeral home was in charge of arrangements, where visitation was held Sunday, with music provided by Sara McCleary.

Organist at the service was Marsha Gerot and vocalists were Rev. Thomas and Bobi Woodin. Casket bearers were Marvin Prior, Jerry Gerot, Mark Huston, Wayne Barnes, Tim Whittacker, and Robert Barnes. Honorary casket bearers were Lyle Martin, Paul Stewart, Lewis Dallmeyer, Glenn Beard, Lewis Newell, and Paul Bailey.

A general memorial has been established.

Marjorie Dewain Oepping was born on March 4, 1924, to Bert and Mary Hunter Oepping in Muscatine County. She graduated from Grandview High School in 1940, where her class recently celebrated their 50th reunion. She furthered her education at Muscatine Junior College and attended Iowa Wesleyan, Mount Pleasant, where she earned her teachers certificate. She married Raymond Bonnichsen on February 24, 1946, at the Grandview Community Church in Grandview.

Mrs. Bonnichsen taught school in Louisa County for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Columbus Junction and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was the first woman president of the Louisa County Fair Board, a member of the Indian Creek Club and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond; two children and spouses, James and Mary Beth Carey, and Steve and Barb Bonnichsen; and grandchildren, Jason and Heather Randall and Stephani Bonnichsen, all of Columbus Junction.
