Roy Bergen, 79, formerly of Ainsworth, died Thursday, May 29, 1980, in Beaumont, California.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Burial ceremonies were held at the Columbus City Cemetry.

Casket bearers were Clinton Hall, Robert Reda, Robert Varner, Burdette Bergen, Kevin Bergen and Dave Wilson.

He was born on October 15, 1900, to Irving and Josephine Fox Bergen. He married Carrie Boulton on January 17, 1923, at Muscatine; she died in 1978. In 1979, he married Carrie Wilson.

Bergen was a farmer in the Ainsworth area for many years.

Survivors include a son, Cleo of Cedartown, Georgia; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Sally Johnson of Banning, California, Mrs. Minia Grover of Arlington, California, Mrs. Grace Ferrell of Kileen, Texas and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Nelson of Columbus Junction; five stepsons, Charles and LeRoy Wilson, both of Beaumont, Ed Wilson of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, David Wilson of Letts and Raymond Wilson of Wapello; two sisters, Beulah Varner and Mrs. Letha Berlin, both of Muscatine; two brothers, Leo of St. Charles and Louis of Columbus Junction; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
