Rosetta Maxine Bennett, 76, of Waterloo, Iowa and formerly of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died March 6, 2001, at the Manor Care Center of Waterloo, following a lengthy illness.

Rosetta Maxine Blankenhorn was born January 6, 1925, in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Scott and Maude (George) Blankenhorn. She married Clifford Bennett on June 11, 1950.

Mrs. Bennett was a teacher for more than 25 years. She retired in 1977 after teaching for 16 years at the L & M High School. She was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, the Iowa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Louisa County Genealogical Society and the Farm Bureau Women.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debra McDowell and husband, Robert, of Springfield, MO., and Lori Tonsfelt and husband, Tony, of Cedar Rapids; and one son, Thomas Bennett and wife, Melodee of Billings, Montana. There are twelve grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother, Max Blankenhorn and wife, Frances, of Prescott, Arizona and one sister, Mary Darlene Burgraff of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Hiller.

Funeral services were held March 10 at Cedar Hills Community Reformed Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Kent Landhuis officiating. Burial was in Indian Creek Cemetery in Columbus Junction. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
